Happy Thanksgiving to all our family & friends!!!
So, we’ve had several exciting days. When we left Savannah, the weather was nice enough to again run outside instead of in the ICW. It was just us and the deep blue sea!!! We saw all sorts of porpoises and sea turtles. There was not a breath of wind so it was smooth sailing all the way. We arrived in Fernandina Beach just as the wind kicked up. We spent a quiet night there, which was a good thing as the following day it was windy and rainy!!! Mom tried hard to wait as long as she could to walk us, but it just kept raining. Grand Dame Cruizer HATES the rain!!!! IT took a lot of convincing to get her to do her thing…she’s so silly….it just meant she was soaked to the skin by the time she got back on board!!! Then Dad made a quick trip up to the marine store to get a chart. Seems we only had charts as far as FL but not including FL…Woopsie!!! Mom downloaded some other electronic charts too. I thought these people were professional mariners???? We finally got underway bound for St. Augustine. Most of the trip was slow going with all the narrow waterways and no wake zones. But, the slow ride was worth the effort once we arrived in St. Augustine. What a beautiful city. We are at the municipal marina right at the base of the Bridge of Lions. Everything is decorated for Christmas and the lights at night are impressive. We all needed a day of rest and we couldn’t have asked for a better spot, so we took a vote and the paws unanimously decided to stay here for turkey day!!! That meant getting to sleep in and spending the day strolling the city and waterfront. But first there was some boat cleaning and maintenance. Cruizer supervised dad and his engine room chores while the rest of us lounged around….Lounging, we are experts at lounging!!! Then we visited the fort, the bridge and a few other historical spots for photo ops. Although dad complained that it is like herding cats to get all of us coordinated for a picture. Good thing photos are now digital. If dad had gotten all those shots developed he’d have to have taken a second mortgage!!! I have decided to nationalize my Irish pub campaign, as once again, we were left out of the pub visit!!! What is it with these people!!! All we get is the scenic tour and they get the black & tans & Guinness!!! Maybe I’ll just “occupy” the pub instead of starting a petition!!! Although, Dad said mom made an “occupy” joke while they were at the pub and everyone cracked up. Guess not everyone is living in tents and pooping in the park. Which, I have a question about that…Do they have human “bags on board”??? On second thought, I don’t want to know!!! On to more positive subjects.
I would just like to take a moment on behalf of our entire family to tell you how thankful we are for all of you. (Dad said he is also thankful to Caterpillar. It’s an engineer thing.). We hope the holiday season brings you happiness, peace and prosperity. (Dad hopes it brings lower diesel fuel prices). We will be home in a few short days…and looking forward to our next adventure!!!
